Fractals mimic nature with an eerie, Bach-like precision. I blush a bit as I say this. As a software developer for Michael Barnesley and Alan Sloan's Iterated Systems, the first company to use fractal image compression methods, my mathematician colleagues would have rolled their eyes hearing my flowery description.
