About me
I'm odd. I know it. I enjoy painting and sculpture as well as math, computers and engineering. My art friends wince when I nerd out, my tech friends cringe when I talk art.

My mother is an artist. My childhood books were art books. Seeing the masters with child eyes burned something, I'm not sure what, into my little budding soul. My dad re-engineered everything around him. My job was holding the flashlight when he worked. I saw the insides of tv's, car engines, radios, etc.

My nerd side was born in a PBS TV station. Being the youngest artist on the staff, I had dibs on the jobs the senior artists didn't want. This was the time when video special effects were in their infancy. I worked on the first broadcast animation created completely on video, not on film. We won awards. I fell in love with the power of electronics and the promise of computers.

My nerd side also finances my art side, allowing my work to grow on its own path independent of market pressures. I have had a very fulfilling technical career working at such wonderful places as Bell Labs, Yerkes Primate Center (on the Lana Language project), Iterated Systems Inc, and Netscape. Veritable candy stores of scientific and technical effervescence.

I'm grateful to have been encouraged and influenced by wonderful artists all of my life.
